Reviving America's Values (CRAVE) 859.219.1222 or 859.619.2811
WASHINGTON, D.C.; August 5, 2009 -- President
Obama has repeatedly declared that America is NOT a Christian
nation. He said it while he was a U.S. Senator, a Presidential
Candidate and now he has said it as President.
In Turkey this year, President Obama said, Americans "do
not consider ourselves a Christian Nation." When he made
this declaration President Obama became the first and only of
our Presidents to ever make such a brash statement.
Don Swarthout, President of Christians
Reviving America's Values said, "When I actually heard our
very own President saying the United States is NOT a Christian
nation, I couldn't believe my ears. His statement is just not
true and is a total fabrication on President Obama's part."
According to Swarthout to get the truth
just watch Historian David Barton on television. Barton has dozens
of documents which tell the truth about our Founding Fathers and
their very strong belief in Christianity. Barton makes it clear
that our Founding Fathers knew the value of Christianity and they
knew Christianity is equal to good government.
One of our current Congressmen said in
May, "The overwhelming evidence suggests this nation was
birthed with Judeo-Christian principles. I would challenge anybody
to tell me that point in time when we ceased to be so (a Christian
Nation), because (that time) it doesn't exist."
A columnist, Wayne Barrett said, "But
what is inescapable in what he (President Obama) keeps saying
is the emphasis that the United States is not Christian. One would
be hard pressed to describe exactly how Islam, Hinduism or Buddhism
have helped shape America and its laws and culture."
There are hundreds of examples which support
those who say America is a Christian Nation. Including the words
of an 1892 decision by our Supreme Court in which they declared
the United States is a Christian Nation.
Swarthout said, "Tell me, where were
the Hindus, Buddhist, Muslims, and Atheists when the Declaration
of Independence and Constitution of America were written? Then
tell me how you can say America is NOT a Christian nation?"
Swarthout concluded, "The real question
here is not one of politics. It does not matter whether you are
a Democrat or a Republican. Either our nation was founded by good
people or it was founded by bad people. I believe our nation was
founded by good people and that we must study their way of thinking
about what our Constitution means. We must also learn from our
true history and return to our Founders Christian beliefs."
