America is a Christian Nation

America was founded as a Christian Nation, but too many Christians today have forgotten we are to honor God. Despite what our President says, we still are a nation founded upon Christian principles and the polls say 85% of us are Christians. When people say we are not a Christian Nation, it doesn't sit well with me.

I can give you hundreds of Christian quotes by our Founding Fathers proving beyond all doubt these men were Christians. In 1821 John Quincy Adams said, "The highest glory of the American Revolution was this; it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity." He made it very clear he believed the principles of good government were dependent upon Christianity.

I can also give you hundreds of Biblical quotes from the scriptures proving the principles of Christianity should be the same principles belonging to good government. Jesus said in Matthew 22:21, "Render therefore unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's." In that passage the phrase describing what belongs to God means the principles of Christianity; and the phrase describing what belongs to Caesar means the principles of good government.

Jesus forever connected the principles of Christianity and good government in the same way as did John Quincy Adams. Jesus Christ gave the principles of Christianity and of government valid recognition, by using them in the same sentence. Jesus forever bound these two principles together.

Jesus Christ said the principles of Christianity and the principles of government are dependent upon one another. Jesus Christ encourages Christians to be responsible to the principles of God and the principles of government. In the eyes of God, these principles are the same and he expects them to be followed by our politicians.

In 1789 George Washington wrote, "While just government protects us all in their religious rights, true religion affords to government its truest support." In 1785 James Madison wrote, "Religion is the basis and Foundation of Government."

In the early 1800's Pastor Charles Finney said, "God cannot sustain this free and blessed country, which we love and pray for, unless the Church will take right ground. Politics are a part of religion in such a country as this, and Christians must do their duty to this country as a part of their duty to God....God will bless this nation according to the course Christians take in politics."

As the President of CRAVE I say to you, "If you are a Christian, you have the ability to determine the outcome of America. Now, what will you do about it?"
